Biography
It may surprise fans to learn that former tomboy-turned-sex symbol
Jaime Pressly is actually pretty old-fashioned given her numerous
provocative film roles (most prominently as promiscuous Audrey Griffin
on the WB's Jack & Jill) and a revealing layout for the March 1998 and
February 2004 issues of Playboy magazine.
Jaime started off as a model in the United States, Italy and Japan,
which lead to a lot of B-movie roles, most notably Poison Ivy: The New
Seduction (1997), before she broke out on Jack & Jill. She recently
went back to her roots, becoming a spokesperson and model for Liz
Claiborne's perfume "Lucky You."
Pressly openly admits that the idea of performing in front of the
cameras for a love scene, and even considers onscreen kissing a little
too intimate for comfort. Surprisingly, her conservatism isn't a
result of her upbringing, since at the age of 15 she was already
legally separated from her parents, and grew up on her own terms.
Born in Kinston, NC, on July 30, 1977, Jaime Pressly started out as a
gymnast and dancer. Her classical dance instructor mother coached a
young Jaime, who continued to practice gymnastics for the next eleven
years.
A true southern girl at heart, Jaime grew up as a tomboy, fishing,
climbing trees and hanging with the boys. She is a proud Leo and even
has a tattoo on the small of her back in blue Japanese writing meaning
healthy, strong, and brave. She usually wears her Leo sign necklace
and has a mural on a wall of her house with hidden Leo symbols.
Although a trained dancer and gymnast, Jaime eventually entered the
modeling world. By the time she was thirteen years old, her
recognition was beginning to grow internationally. Appearing on the
cover of Teen Magazine, Jaime also toured outside of the country to
model in catwalks in Italy and Japan.
At the age of fifteen, the precocious teen legally emancipated from
her parents, and began to make the leap to celluloid. Jaimes first
big break as when she worked as Drew Barrymore's body double in the
film Poison Ivy (1992) As a result, she was offered the lead in the
1997 sequel, Poison Ivy: The New Seduction, as teenage seductress
Violet.
After her role as a prostitute in Poison Ivy, Jaime appeared in the
films Against the Law (1997), The Journey: Absolution (1997) and Can't
Hardly Wait (1998), where it's safe to say that she stole the show
from Jennifer Love Hewitt. In 1998, she appeared in the Jerry Springer
film Ringmaster (1998), and was cast as C.J. Callum in Trash (1999)
and in Coyote Moon (1999), as Dottie Matthews.
Roomies with Jack and Jill
Jaime hit it big on the small screen in 1999, when she was cast as
promiscuous dancer Audrey in the WB's short lived drama, Jack & Jill.
While the only thing that she has in common with her character is her
love for dance, Jaime is receiving recognition as one of the Jack &
Jill babes.
After finding out on her wedding day that her fiancé had sex with her
maid of honor, the star of the series, Jacqueline "Jack" Barrett,
leaves her old life behind and moves to New York to live with her high
school friend, dancer Audrey Griffin (played by Jaime Pressly). Jack
soon meets her handsome new upstairs neighbor, David "Jill" Jillefsky,
a promising toy designer who already has a longtime girlfriend, Elisa
Cronkite. He also has two loyal if quirky buddies: pre-med student
Barto Zane and bartender Mikey Russo. Presslys character eventually
hooks up with the intensely intelligent Barto.
Jaime Pressly hit the jackpot in the WB's short lived drama Jack &
Jill -- she became a household name for her feisty character -- and by
the time her 2001 film Not Another Teen Movie premiered, she was one
of the hottest young actresses in Hollywood.
This Southern girl can also be seen in 2001s The Adventures of Joe
Dirt (with David Spade); Tomcats (with Shannon Elizabeth); and Ticker,
where she played the role of Claire Manning.
No stranger to television roles, Jaime appeared in the 1998 television
series Push as Nikki Lang and has shared her knowledge on the game
show Hollywood Squares. She also hosted a documentary entitled 50
Steamiest Southern Stars in 2005.
Presslys career has continued to grow, especially as a commercial
endorser. She has been a spokesmodel for Liz Claiborne Cosmetics
fragrance "Lucky You" as well as the Candie's Foundation urging teens
to wait before having sex. Jamie is also spokesmodel for 1-800-COLLECT
and can be seen in Coors Light ads.
Jaime has her clothing line, entitled J'aime Lingerie (J'aime in
French translates to "I Love") which she started sketching and
designing on the set of her 2004 film Torque. Jaime tried her hand at
producing when she took the helm in Death To The Supermodels (2005).
One persistent rumor is that Pressly married a guy named Brodie
Mitchell in 1998. Pressly, who has never married, has stated she has
heard of Mitchell but does not know him personally. Apparently,
Mitchell has repeatedly made claims about being married to Pressly
that some sources have reported it as fact.
A self-proclaimed multi-tasker, Jaime is destined to be a star and she
was even once called "the Kim Basinger of the 21st Century."
